Welding World Awards 2018 raises over £10,000
Kidney Cancer UK were delighted to be the beneficiary of the The Welding World Awards 2018 Gala dinner on Wednesday 11th April.
Alice Dewey from the charity, and our supporter Shirley Chapman, attended the awards.
Alice introduced the charity’s new promotional video to the near 200 strong audience, supported by the main guest speaker, the very lovely Eamonn Holmes. Eamonn was particularly moved by Shirley’s story of how four years ago she lost her husband to the disease and asked her to do an impromptu speech. Anyone who knows Shirley will know she is very shy and quiet lady, but with Eamonn by her side Shirley gave a moving speech, which was given a rousing reception.
Our promotional video (below) was given its first public viewing at the event.
With such a vast number of businesses from within the industry nominated at the start of the awards process, and with initial votes being completely controlled by the general public, it was a huge achievement to reach the final. Winner or Finalist on the night, everyone should be immensely proud for the wonderful recognition of all their hard work. Our congratulations go to all the nominees and winners.
We are delighted to confirm that, thanks to the auction bids and donations on the night, the total amount raised for Kidney Cancer UK was an incredible £10,276.00, and there are still donations and pledges still coming in! This wonderful contribution will go towards supporting both patients and carers and raising awareness of kidney cancer right across the UK, so a huge thank you every one at, and all who attended The Welding World Awards. They are saying is was a Welding World record!
We would like to say a very special thank you to Dave Ellwood, Managing Director at Britannia Welding Ltd who nominated us to be this years charity. David is currently undergoing treatment for kidney cancer and we wish him the very best in his journey.
