Alan Speight Prof Wah – Image Guided Kidney Cancer Ablation

Alan Speight has Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome, a rare inherited genetic condition which causes abnormal growth of blood vessels. VHL is caused by a genetic mutation in the VHL gene and about 28-45% of VHL patients develop kidney cancer. Over the last 20 years Alan has under gone a wide array of surgical procedures to deal with the kidney cancer tumors as they develop; from open surgery to being the first kidney cancer patient in the UK to be treated using the Nanoknife. Professor Dr Tze Min Wah has treated Alan since 2005 at Leeds Teaching Hospital using various ground breaking form of ablative surgery.
