Run the London Marathon 2020 for Kidney Cancer UK

by | Jul 5, 2019 | Events News

Phoebe-avent-london-marathon-2019The Virgin Money London Marathon is the most iconic marathon in the world. It attracts runners of all abilities who love the course around London’s most famous streets, as well as the incredible atmosphere

For 2020, Kidney Cancer UK have been granted a Charity Ballot place for one lucky individual to run in this prestigious event. Our charity runner is expected to raise a minimum of £2,500 for the charity and run 26.2 miles, which is no easy task! This means months of fundraising, organising events, bag packs, raffles and bake sales. Months of running in the dark, rain, snow and mud. Months of blisters, black toe nails and niggling injuries.
Phoebe Avent (picture above), knows very well all about the demands of training for this marathon whilst fundraising to reach your target. Phoebe said..

‘The London Marathon 2019 was a huge challenge for me, Having always said I wanted to run a marathon I never actually believed I would get a spot! The training was tough as I was not a runner but the challenge enabled me to meet lots of new people and I found myself actually enjoying the training at the end. The day was amazing and its something I will never forget, the crowds were so supportive and the further you get to the finish line the more emotional it gets (don’t forget to pack tissues!) I can now comfortably say that I am a marathon finisher and will always show my medal at any opportunity!!’

Everyone who runs this iconic race is a super hero to us!
