Sudbury to the sea – fundraising in aid of kidney cancer
Mike and Karen are taking part in the Sudbury to the Sea event and along with 300 other canoes kayaks and other small man powered craft will be making the 24 1/2 mile trip over the weekend of the 7th September. This popular event takes place annually. Participants navigate the 24½ miles (37km) of the River Stour, from Sudbury to the Cattawade Barrier, enjoying its many delights and seeing parts of the local countryside that are inaccessible by foot or road.
Both Karen and Mike enjoy canoeing and want to raise some money to help people in the same position as Mike was diagnosed with renal cancer two years ago and had his right kidney removed. Unfortunately the cancer returned and at the moment he is on a trial at Addenbrookes hospital. The treatment has been successful and the tumours have been reduced significantly but not without a fair bit of pain.
Please leave a message wishing them good luck or leave a donation on their Just Giving Page.
