Statement from James Whale MBEs on Cancer Drug Fund announcement

James Whale MBE, Chairman of the Kidney Cancer UK, the UK’s leading specialist Kidney Cancer Charity, commented that I welcome on behalf of all Cancer Patients ,the news that the government has agreed to extend to at least 2016 the emergency Cancer Drug Fund. But would like both NICE and the Government to agree to Doctors treating the Patient, to be able to decide the Patient needs, and not  to be put in the position of having to apply to a Fund as to whether they are allowed to prescribe life extending Dugs, which have already a proven result, under very strict clinical trials.
