Meetings with Jo Churchill MP & Cally Palmer

by | Oct 9, 2019 | Kidney Cancer UK News

Today our Health Professional Lead, Lucy, attended – along with many other leading cancer charities – the Cancer Charities round table meeting with Jo Churchill MP, Parliamentary-under-Secretary for Prevention, Primary Care and Public Health, and Cally Palmer, NHS England’s National Cancer Director today (09/10/19). We discussed implementation of the NHS long term plan and the issues around the NHS cancer workforce, including Clinical Nurse Specialists. All the charities raised their points and I specifically raised points to Jo Churchill about the importance of each patient getting a suitable CNS (clinical nurse specialist). I also raised the importance of all patients receiving the best cancer treatment regardless of where they live in the UK and highlighted the inconsistencies of treatments for patients outside the centres of excellence, to Cally Palmer.
It was an extremely productive meeting and being the sole kidney cancer voice there, our community was heard and listened to.
