Britain’s Biggest Curry Party in Aid of Kidney Cancer UK
In the month Public Health England highlight the rise of Kidney Cancer across the country, The James Fund for Kidney Cancer is holding its annual ‘Britain’s Biggest Curry Party’ fund raiser from 21st – 27th October across the UK and LeSoCo Lewisham will be at its epicentre!
We are delighted to announce that Fund Chairman, kidney cancer survivor and radio and TV presenter James Whale MBE will be at the college between 4.00pm – 6.00pm to help launch LeSoCo’s ‘Enterprise Hub’, a new state-of-the-art collaborative space for students. And, they’ll be serving curry canapés!
The college’s Brockley Restaurant, and their fine-dining restaurant, The Phoenix, will all be donating 50p from each curry meal sold on Thursday to the event to support college staff member Wioletta Kreis who was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer two years ago.
Simone Davies, Director of Marketing and Communications for LeSoCo, said: “As a college, we try to support events of this kind whenever we can and ‘Britain’s Biggest Curry Party’ is such fun and also fits in beautifully with our emphasis on Asian cuisine on our catering course. In this particular instance, we feel very strongly about the cause as a valued member of staff, Wioletta, has personal experience of the disease”.
Wioletta was diagnosed with kidney cancer two years ago and following a recent check-up and is doing really well. Wioletta said: ‘When you first hear the news that you have cancer it can be very frightening but it helped that I was able to get specific information from the Kidney Cancer UK. It’s made me appreciate each day more and I believe that cancer can be beaten.’
