Title Background
Developing the evidence for screening for renal cell carcinoma using focused renal ultrasound: a feasibility study investigating the potential for technician performed ultrasound

A screening program for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) consisting of focused renal ultrasound may improve survival outcomes through early detection and treatment. The established abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) NHS screening program, consisting of a single aortic ultrasound for men aged 65 years, represents an ideal vehicle to explore the possibility of screening for RCC due to the similarities in risk factors and mode of detection between RCC and AAA

Renal Adjuvant MultiPle Arm Randomised Trial

(RAMPART)

An International investigator-led phase III multi-arm multi-stage multi-centre randomised controlled platform trial of adjuvant therapy in patients with resected primary renal cell carcinoma (RCC) at high or intermediate risk of relapse.
Gap Analysis

Development of a scientific paper which aims to highlight all of the areas of kidney cancer research, care and treatments that need development. The type of scientific paper is known as a review article, which is a broad overview of a specific topic; in this case kidney cancer. Specifically this type of article is described within the scientific community as a gap analysis paper, which as it suggests in the title, is a paper that establishes the gaps in current understanding.

Exploring the role of T cells in the immune surveillance of renal cancer

The immune surveillance theory postulates an important role of the immune system in the recognition and elimination of transformed cells. Accordingly, natural immune surveillance is predicted to reduce cancer incidence, and escape from protective immunity is considered an essential step of malignant progression. There is clinical evidence of cancer immune surveillance in the kidney but the nature, phenotype and functional profile of the immune cells controlling cancer development remains unknown.

European Active Surveillance of Renal Cell Carcinoma Study (E.A.S.E. RCC Study)

There is a clear need of information on the growth rate and oncological outcomes of histologically confirmed RCCs by percutaneous biopsy at diagnosis and on the results of a standardized protocol of active surveillance of small RCCs.

The primary objective of this study is to assess overall survival of patients who are diagnosed with incidental, histologically (biopsy) confirmed, <4 cm RCC and are managed conservatively with active surveillance.
