Job title:                   Kidney Cancer UK Healthcare Professional – Nurse

Reporting to:           General Manager

Hours:                       Part Time – 24 hours a week

Holiday                     17 days

Salary:                       £17,500.00 pa.

Location:                  Home based (Birmingham/ Leeds/ Manchester)

Role outline:
To be a strong forward-thinking member of our Health Professional Team planning for the provision of patient care through our patient Support Line service, our patient events– online and off-, and in all areas of direct or indirect support that the charity offers to patients, their immediate families and carers across, but not limited to, the North of England as require

Key objectives:

  • Be a knowledgeable, familiar, and supportive voice for patients on our Support Line service and active in our closed Facebook group
  • Highlight the support the charity offers to patients and cancer centres through our support groups, literature, and available grants at every opportunity
  • Build and develop these support groups and other patient and carer events.
  • Build strong, lasting, and meaningful working relationships with clinical teams at cancer centres across your area, ensuring they signpost patients to Kidney Cancer UK services
  • Be confident in writing and presenting submissions to NICE (training available)
  • Be a voice of the charity in cancer groups such as Cancer 52
  • Be the face of the charity to patients and healthcare professionals at all times.
  • Deliver a highly professional support service to patients, carers and their families
  • Ensure with other members of the team that all the charities patient information is regularly reviewed and up to date.
  • Be a team player and work closely with the Facebook moderators, General Manager and Head of Fundraising to share knowledge and support when requested or needed

Required skills & experience

  • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC pin
  • Continue development on understanding treatment for kidney cancer
  • Confident communication and writing skills
  • Excellent IT/ digital/ social media skills
  • Confident in public speaking and delivering presentations
  • Willing to travel within the UK and occasionally abroad if necessary
  • Full clean driving licence with access to own reliable vehicle
