Freddie (age 11) and Logan (age 8) are racing in the Leeds Run for All Event for their Dad
In September 2012, Mike Giles was diagnosed with kidney cancer at the age of 41. Mike needed a major operation to remove his left kidney and also his adrenal gland, however 2 days later he suffered a pulmonary embolism which triggered a cardiac arrest. He needed an emergency high risk operation to save his life, thankfully Mike survived this operation.
In December it was found that the cancer had spread to his spine, advanced kidney cancer has no cure.
Today, Mike is surviving on suppressive drugs.
On Sunday 12th May, Mike’s sons, Freddie (age 11) and Logan (age 8) are racing in the Leeds Run for All event. Fred is running the 2.5 km course and Logan is running the 1.5km course to raise money for the Kidney Cancer UK.
Freddie and logan said “We want to raise money towards kidney cancer research, to help find a cure for this currently incurable disease. We want to help all of the people who have put up with cancer especially our Dad. We would also like to be the next Mo Farah and Usain Bolt ;)”
If you feel that you want to support them please visit their Just Giving Page.
