An inspirational story …

Recently, we have come across a lovely and inspirational article about Mark Pusey, a brave father-of two, diagnosed with advance-stage kidney cancer who is embarking on a ‘50 more books’ fundraising challenge for St Nicholas Hospice Care. He is reading 50 books as a challenge and is supported by Waterstones in Buttermarket, Bury, which is donating books for Mark’s challenge and displaying his book reviews. Prior to his devastating diagnosis in August 2010, Mark had no obvious symptoms. In the October he underwent surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where his left kidney, which contained a tumour larger than the organ itself, was removed. The cancer had already spread to his neck and lungs. Mark has been receiving a drug therapy for two and a half years before it began failing. He has recently undergone radiotherapy. The book-lover hopes to raise £5,000 for the Bury St Edmunds hospice where, if necessary, he has made arrangements to spend his final days.

This story and many others we experience every day, including Jo Jennings who is sky diving in August to raise money for the Fund, really touch our hearts and make us work harder and harder everyday to help kidney cancer patients. Jo’s Dad was diagnosed with incurable Kidney Cancer 3 years ago. Fortunately, to date his current treatments have succeeded in preventing his cancer from spreading any further and he is managing to lead a relatively normal life. He has been brave and very positive.
Jo decided to do something to champion his fighting spirit and to help anyone who is battling kidney cancer.  She chose sky diving but it turned she was too heavy to qualify. She has recently lost over 100lb’s in weight and the challenge is happening on the 18th of August. Please support Jo if you can. 
The determination and people’s good hearts make miracles and every good deed is certainly noticed.
